Payroll giving is the most simple, tax effective way to make regular donations to St John's Hospice - and it gives the Hospice more, at absolutely no extra cost to you. With payroll giving, your donation comes out of your pay packet before the tax is removed. This means that should you choose to give £10, the amount you actually pay is just under £8. If you're in a higher tax bracket, your £10 donation costs you just £6.
Payroll giving for individuals - Minimum effort, maximum benefit to the Hospice
Make your money go further - the amount you choose to give will be deducted from your wages, before tax. Take a look at the giving table on CAF's website to see how your donation costs you less but gives the Hospice more.
How to get started - All you need to do is authorise your payroll giving department at work to take your gift out of your monthly salary. You can start donating almost straight away by downloading our simple St John's Payroll Giving Form
Payroll giving for businesses - Setting up a payroll giving scheme in your company is simple and easy!
Why payroll giving? - Payroll giving is a simple and tax-effective way for your employees to make regular donations to their charity of choice. It demonstrates a commitment to your employees and to the wider community.
Setting up the scheme is easy and free. It costs almost nothing to run yet makes a huge difference to work of the Hospice.
In order to offer payroll giving to your employees, you must (by law) be contracted to a payroll giving agency approved by HM Revenue & Customs and they will distribute your employees' donations to us.
Matched Giving Many employers choose to match their employees' donations either on a one-off or regular basis.
Besides helping them support their favourite charities, your organisation can enjoy a surprising wide range of benefits including:
• an improvement in staff morale, teamwork and motivation
• an enhanced corporate image and reputation by giving to charity with very little company effort
• it makes employees feel good about the organisation they work for
• a growing sense of social responsibility
• spreading the benefit of your organisation's generosity across a wide range of causes - all of which reflect your employee's interests and concerns
• The perfect way to involve your employees in your corporate giving programme.
• Any money that the company gives can also be signed off against corporation tax
What are the options? Employers can use Matched Giving as an incentive to get staff to join the programme and also to support their staff's generosity. These are the most popular ways to do this:
100% match A 100% match would equal each employee's gift pound for pound. It can be capped by setting an annual limit for each employee.
200% match Royal Bank of Scotland and Capital Investments are currently operating one of the UK's most generous payroll giving schemes - paying £2 for every £1 donated by its employees.
Administration costs A payment of the scheme's administration costs on the employee's behalf
