Sporting Events in 2008            

 

Sunday 13th April 2008 - The Flora London Marathon

Our 5 runners did so well and all completed the gruelling 26 miles through London in excellent times, we would like to thank Oliver Firth, Sebastian Breen, Vicki Learmont, David Greenstien and Charlotte Mills for their amazing efforts.  As usual, we will have 5 places for next years marathon so if you are fighting fit and would like to run for St John's please let us know.

 Team John & Lizzies London to Paris Cycle Ride!!

On July 2nd 2008 Team John & Lizzies which conisted of Simon Woodgate - Senior Project Manager - Galliford Try Construction, Ian Garlington - Project manager -  Hunter and Partners, David Marshall - Director of Finance - Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth and Claire Hornick - Deputy Chief Executive - Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth, cycled from London to Paris over 4 days in aid of St John’s Hospice.

We are so pleased with their efforts and they managed to raise almost £20,000.00 which is truly amazing. We would like to thank David Marshall particularly as he completed this cycle twice, once alone and once as part of Team J&L.

Sunday 6th July 2008 - The British London 10k Run

We would like to offer a huge thank-you to the 15 runners who took part in the 10K Run. They all managed to raise huge amounts of money and all did really well.  We will have another 15 places for next years run so please call or email if you are interested.

September 2008 - The Hydro Active Women's Challenge

Ladies!!! If you're looking for a reason to get fit over summer, then why not enter the Hydro Active Women's challenge. Date TBC

Although we do not have any set charity places for this event, you can still run for St John's Hospice by registering yourself online at www.womenschallenge.co.uk   Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Entry fee is £15 but if you fill in details of St John's Hospice when you register, £5 of this fee will come to the Hospice.  Furthermore, please do let the Fundraising Office know if you have a place as we can provide you with a sponsorship pack. 

Sunday 2nd November 2008 - The New York City Marathon

Challenge yourself with the marathon package of the year! The course takes runner through the streets of New York's five boroughs, passing over five bridges and finishing up in world-famous Central Park. This year we have teamed up with 2:09 Events to bring you the ultimate marathon experience!

All the work has beend one for you - you simply get on the plane and then run! 2: 09 Events will organise your flights, accomodation and race entry. You will also be accompanied by a family of other runners just like you, with whom you can share the experience if you wish.

Simply log on to www.209events.com to register your place and select St John's Hospice as your chosen charity. You will also get plenty of training tips and race information and we will provide you with a complete sponsorship pack. Places are allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis so register now before it's too late!
