The benefits of volunteering for you

Font size:

There are lots of reasons for volunteering and consensus among volunteers is that they gain more than they give. Some of the benefits our volunteers say they gain include:

  • Learning new skills
  • Gaining experience for future employment
  • Meeting new people
  • Increasing confidence
  • Giving something back to the local community
  • Feeling valued and making a difference

Training and support

St John's Hospice has been awarded the Investing in Volunteers quality standard, which means you can feel confident that you will be highly valued and well supported in your volunteer role.

As a volunteer you will attend an induction day and have the opportunity to shadow a more experienced volunteer or do relevant training before you start. You will also have a line manager who will give you support and advice.
