The benefits of volunteering for you

Working as a volunteer for St. John's Hospice can help you to develop your experience, skills, knowledge and self confidence. Perhaps best of all, it is a great opportunity to make new friends!

Our volunteers offer their time and enthusiasm for many different reasons. For some, experience as a volunteer helps to enhance a CV and impress potential employers. For others, it is about the sense of wellbeing that comes from giving something positive to their community.

Research has even demonstrated that volunteering can lead to better health and in particular that older volunteers are most likely to receive physical and mental health benefits from their volunteering.

We have a wide range of opportunities available. You could choose to do something that your familiar with, be it related to your interests or previous work experience. Alternatively, you could choose to try something that you have never done before. Either way, you will be given excellent training (both at induction and on an ongoing basis) in which ever role you choose.
