Ryan’s story: 52 marathons in 52 weeks

Ryan is one of our amazing supporters who is going above and beyond to raise funds for our hospice. Having met our Challenges team at the National Running Show in Birmingham, he was inspired to take on a special challenge for a milestone birthday.

“I wanted to do something special to celebrate, or should I say commiserate my half-century,” Ryan tells us. “I love running and it has been a major part of my life for the past few years. When I’m not out snapping away for work or editing at my desk, running is what I do to unwind and get out in the fresh air. So, I decided I’d take on the challenge of running 52 marathons in the 52 weeks of 2022.”

Ryan will be completing his 52 marathons in 52 weeks fundraising money for the hospice and will be joining the official St John’s London Marathon team this October, which will mark marathon 41.

Ryan continues, “Having met the St John’s team at the National Running Show, I was reminded of the incredible care my mother received and that the work done by such organisations is something that I will always be extremely grateful for. I wanted to run for St John’s to make sure that others will also get to experience that care when they need it most.”

Ryan has set himself the ambitious target of raising £4,000 for our hospice, if you are feeling inspired by his story and would like to donate to support his challenge you can do so by visiting his Just Giving page.
