If you’ve received our support and have private health insurance, you may be able to request a donation from your insurance provider and help us provide care to others.
We're proud to provide our quality, holistic care entirely free of charge. However, we need to raise over £7 million each year to do this, meaning we rely heavily on the generosity of our community. If you or a loved one has received support from St John’s and has private health insurance, you may be able to request a donation from your insurance provider. It won’t cost you anything and your gift will help us provide care to others.
You or your next of kin can liaise with your insurance provider directly and get in touch with fundraising@hje.org.uk or call us on 0207 806 4011 if you need further details.
Alternatively, we can submit a claim on your behalf. Let us know if you would like for us to do this by completing our online form.
Complete the formWhat happens next? How much will you receive? Can I claim on behalf of someone who has now died? We appreciate you may have some questions before you reach out to your insurance provider. We hope we have answered these below, if not, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
While your insurance provider doesn’t need to pay for the support you or your loved one has received from us, many will be willing to make a donation. You don’t need to have stayed at our Inpatient Unit to request a donation; you may have received support at home or attended our Wellbeing Centre.
If you are making the claim, we will wait for you to get in touch with any requests for information; insurance providers will often ask us to confirm dates of care for patients.
If you use the form above and wish for us to make the claim on your behalf, we will write to your insurer asking for a donation.
This depends on the policy you have and the insurer. Some insurers specifically exclude hospice care. In our experience, insurers can contribute an average of £100 per night of care.
If they were supported by St John's Hospice and had health insurance, then you can. You can follow the exact same process as outlined above.
This depends on circumstances, but many providers have contributed to hospices before, including Aviva, AXA PPP, WPA, Bupa, General and Medical, Vitality, SAGA, Simply Health and CS Healthcare. This list is not exhaustive so it may still be worth checking if you don’t see your insurer above.
As it is a voluntary donation and not a legal obligation, it should not increase premiums, but this may vary. If this is a concern, we’d recommend liaising directly with your provider for clarification.
Thank you for considering supporting the hospice in this way. Get in touch with fundraising@hje.org.uk or call 0207 806 4011 if you need further details from us.
