Our Day Care Unit project is under way

We are delighted to announce that our Day Care Unit and administrative office redesign and refurbishment project is officially underway!

‍

Our Day Care Unit is central to the services that we provide to our community. It encompasses our belief that hospice care is long-term and holistic – the focus is not only physical care but on supporting our patients and their families to maintain their quality of life, mental health and wellbeing.

‍

This long-awaited project will see the transformation of the unit into our all-new St John’s Wellbeing Centre. Through a more effective design of the main space and the addition of new therapy rooms, a larger clinical room, and a private counselling room, our Wellbeing Centre will be able to cater for more patients, offering more outpatient clinics, therapy sessions and group classes.

‍

Plans of what the multi-functional space could look like at the new St John’s Wellbeing Centre.

‍

This multi-functional main space will also be used to host new bereavement group support sessions. The new 1:1 counselling room will provide our social workers with a private space to support patients and their families.

‍

As part of the project, we are also investing in the hospice administrative office. The much-needed changes to this space will enable us to house the extended team required to support the expansion of our care and will help to create a positive and professional space for our staff, promoting their own health and wellbeing.

‍

The new office will create a positive and professional space for our staff, promoting their own health and wellbeing.

‍

While the project takes place, we are delighted to confirm that we have secured planning permission to create our temporary Day Care Unit on-site and have been able to organise alternative office locations for our staff within the hospice.

‍

The temporary centre will be located just a short distance from the existing space, which will help limit disruption to both our patients and staff.

‍

We hope the new centre will open in late 2023 and we could not have launched this transformational project without your generous support. We look forward to sharing more updates with you along the way.

‍

If you have any questions regarding the project and what will be the new St John’s Wellbeing Centre please do not hesitate to reach out to us by emailing fundraising@hje.org.uk or calling us on 020 7806 4011.
