Our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party celebration is back!

Throughout June, we are calling on you, our incredible supporters, to sign up to host your own Mad Hatter’s Tea Party celebration to raise vital funds for St John’s Hospice.

‍

Your celebration can take place on any day in June, our official party month, and could take various forms, such as a coffee morning at home, a bake sale at work or even a picnic in your local park. It could even be a lovely occasion to come together with friends and family to celebrate the life of someone special.

‍

It costs just £5 to sign up and this will give you access to our Fundraising Pack which contains everything you need to get started with your planning, including invitation and decoration inspiration, food and drink recipes, party game ideas and information on how to raise money for St John’s and pay in any donations. You will be sent a digital version of this pack when you sign up and can also request a physical copy to be sent to your door.

If you are a teacher or work at a school and would like to know how your community could get involved please email Claudia on claudia.sandu@hje.org.uk or call 020 7806 4093 as we have a special pack just for you! It is chock full of different ways your community could get involved throughout our official party month including hosting a themed bake sale, having a fancy dress or non-uniform day, or holding a wackiest hat competition. We are also available to come in to give an assembly to your students and staff about St John’s and our care in the local community, as well as communicating how your support will enable us to reach more people and provide more care.

‍

Why your support matters

However you choose to take part, and however big or small your celebration is, your support has the power to raise vital funds for our hospice, enabling us to reach more people and provide more care when it is needed most.

‍

  • £25 could fund a bereavement counselling session for a patient’s loved one, providing them with much needed support at the toughest time.
  • £50 could fund a group art therapy session in our Day Care Unit, enabling our patients to learn new skills, express themselves and above all else, relax and have fun with one another.
  • £250 could fund a day of expert nursing care from a Healthcare Assistant in our Inpatient Unit.
  • £500 could fund 24-hour at home nursing care for a patient who wants to remain in familiar and comforting surroundings in the later stages of their illness.

‍

Your support will enable us to continue being there for our patients like Juan and reach the many more in our community who need us.

‍

Juan’s Story

Juan, is a long-standing patient of St John’s and first started attending our hospice as a patient of our Day Care Unit in 1997.

‍

“When I was first told about the hospice and the Day Care Unit all those years ago, I didn’t want to come, I thought a hospice would be a dark and depressing place to be. As soon as I came through the door my opinion changed. St John’s is such a bright place to be, full of love and care, with the most wonderful people. It is like my second home.”

‍

Your support will enable us to continue being there for our patients like Juan and reach the many more in our community who need us.
