Dedicate one of our hand-crafted jasmines in memory of someone special and support the work we do at St John's Hospice.
Dedicate a jasmine
The jasmine flower and its beautiful scent have long been associated with moments of reflection and happy memories. That’s why we have chosen it as the official flower of St John’s Hospice.
They were launched at our 40th anniversary celebrations, where 400 of them were displayed in a beautiful installation representing our community and the moments we have shared over the years.
For a donation of £40, you can purchase one in memory of someone special. In doing so, you will be supporting the work we do at St John's Hospice and helping us be there for all those who need us.
Your butterfly will find its home in one of our hospice gardens, spaces where you can continue to visit and remember the special moments shared. The gardens are also enjoyed by our patients, their loved ones and our staff and volunteers. The St John’s Butterflies will help make it an even more spectacular outdoor space for our community to relax, enjoy and spend time with one another.
Once your butterfly has been lovingly made, you will be invited to view it in the garden of your choosing, where it will remain for one year. After this time, you’ll have the opportunity to renew it for a further year, or you can arrange to collect it from our hospice so that you can cherish it in your own home or garden.
Each jasmine is hand-crafted and painted by sculptor James Sutton. You can personalise it with a name or special saying up to six words which will be engraved on a charm and attached to your jasmine.
Unlike, the St John's Butterflies, the jasmines do not live in our hospice gardens, meaning that once your jasmine has been personalised, you will be invited to collect it so that you can cherish it at home.
“The jasmines are absolutely stunning. Each of us has one at home, and they are a perfect memorial to our late sister.”
– Debbie, Supporter.
The making of the jasmines
We have worked with sculptor James Sutton to create 400 of these special jasmines. Each one has been lovingly hand-crafted and painted by James at his workshop before being transported to our hospice.
We are truly grateful to Dorchester Collection who have helped to fund the creation of these beautiful jasmines, meaning that all funds raised through their dedication can go directly to our work.
