One gift, TWICE the impact!

It is estimated that only about 50% of people in the UK who need palliative care actually receive it. This can leave patients with unmanaged symptoms, including extreme pain, and without a say in how and where they’re looked after. This problem is exacerbated out of hours when patients and their families may find themselves on their own, struggling to cope when a loved one’s health suddenly deteriorates. Often, this leads to frightening emergency admissions to hospital, counter to patients’ wishes.

‍

Everyone deserves the best possible experience no matter their stage in life: to be heard, to have their wishes respected, and to have their care needs met. We want to bridge the gap and with your help, we can raise vital funds through our Big Give Christmas Challenge Campaign to kick-start our ambitious plans to create an accessible 24/7 specialist care service across North London.

‍

‍

All donations made during our week-long online Big Give Christmas Campaign will be doubled while match funds last. We’re aiming to raise £50,000 which will unlock an additional £50,000 from our Big Give Pledgers and Champion.

‍

Funds will be used to help us extend our Inpatient admissions over weekends; increase our community care hours to 8 am - 8 pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year; and introduce a specialist nurse-manned telephone line where patients and loved ones can access support around the clock. Funds will also help update our patient and ambulance vehicle fleet and expand our ambulance team to better meet our patient’s needs and ensure that everyone can easily access our services.

‍

  • £10 could help fund our 24/7 telephone advice line so that patients and their families can always access specialist support and advice no matter the time of day.
  • £35 could fund a visit from one of our community nurses who can provide much-needed support to patients and their families in their own homes.
  • £50 could help fund our inpatient care, whether it's managing a patient’s pain and symptoms, providing end-of-life care, or offering respite for family members and carers.
Donate now

For your donation to be doubled, you must give online from midday Tuesday 3 December and midday Tuesday 10 December 2024. Please note that we unfortunately cannot accept cash, cheques, CAF or Charities Trust vouchers.

‍

If you have any questions regarding the Big Give and making your donation, please contact our Fundraising team at fundraising@hje.org.uk or on 020 7806 4011.
