Celebrate and remember at Light Up a Life
As the festive season draws near, we are delighted to invite you to our annual Light Up a Life celebration – a cherished opportunity for our community to come together, reflect on the past year and lovingly remember those who mean the most to us.
This year’s event will take place on Monday 8 December 2025, from 6 pm – 8.30 pm and is proudly sponsored by Westminster City Council and the Abbey Road and Regent’s Park Ward Budgets.
The evening will begin at St John’s Wood Church with a beautiful multi-faith service featuring moving poems, readings and music performed by local faith leaders, schoolchildren and beneficiaries of our hospice. Following the service, we invite you to join us at Lord’s Cricket Ground for a warm and uplifting reception. Enjoy drinks, nibbles, and live entertainment from the Rock Choir.
At the reception, you’ll also have the chance to:
- Browse our range of festive cards, new charity gift cards and pin badges.
- Take part in our special Envelopes of Joy for just £10 – with surprises ranging from heartfelt messages from hospice staff and patients to prizes including festive gift sets and vouchers for local restaurants and businesses.
- Write a message in our Book of Remembrance in memory of a loved one.
If you cannot attend in person, you are still welcome to add a message by contacting us directly at sjhevents@hje.org.uk or calling 020 3832 1436.
All funds raised through this year’s Light Up a Life will go towards extending our hospice Inpatient Unit admissions hours, so that patients, their loved ones, and carers can access our specialist care when it’s needed most.
Right now, people living with life-limiting illnesses often struggle to access palliative care in the evenings and at weekends. This can mean unwanted hospital admissions or families left coping alone. By extending our admissions service to seven days a week, we can reduce unnecessary emergency visits, ease the pressure on carers, and support more people to remain in their preferred place of care.
If you have any questions before purchasing your ticket, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team by emailing sjhevents@hje.org.uk or by calling 020 3832 1436.
