Step Up for St John’s launches this June

This June, we’re inviting you to take on a brand-new challenge and make every step count.

Step Up for St John’s is a new virtual challenge where you’ll walk or run 30 miles across 30 days, all while raising vital funds to support patients and families living with life-limiting illnesses.

Whether it’s your daily commute, a walk in the park, or time outdoors with friends and family, every mile you complete will help us continue providing compassionate care when it matters most.

What is Step Up for St John’s?

Step Up for St John’s is a flexible challenge you can shape around your own lifestyle.

Take on all 30 miles in a day or spread them across the month - it’s up to you. Track your progress, connect your Strava or fitness app, and unlock interactive badges as you move through the virtual boroughs.

You’ll receive a St John’s Hospice t-shirt to wear with pride, and if you reach your £100 fundraising target, you’ll be sent a ‘Step Up’ medal as a thank you and a lasting reminder of your achievement.

Why 30 miles?

Our care reaches across the communities we serve, including Camden, Westminster, Brent, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Islington and Harrow.

If you were to walk across the areas we support, it would total around 30 miles. This challenge represents that journey, connecting every step you take with the people and families we care for every day.

As you work your way through the challenge, you'll pass through the virtual boroughs, earning badges and learning more about the work we do there.

Why your support matters

Every mile you complete and every pound you raise will help us provide vital care and support to those who need it most.

  • £20 could fund a bereavement counselling session for a patient’s loved one.
  • £35 could provide a home visit from a community nurse.
  • £50 could fund art and music therapy sessions in our Wellbeing Centre.

Your support helps ensure that patients and families receive compassionate care, comfort and dignity when it matters most.

Take part your way

Take part solo, as a team with colleagues, or alongside friends and family. Whether you’re aiming for a personal challenge or just looking to do something meaningful, every mile makes a difference.

We’ve partnered with Funraisin to make tracking your miles easy. Connect your Strava or other fitness apps on launch day to automatically log your progress, unlock interactive badges, and follow your journey through the virtual boroughs as you go.

Take on 30 miles. Raise vital funds. Help us continue providing care across our communities.
