Candlelight Concert

Celebrate the season of giving and join us for a Candlelight Concert, held in the beautiful setting of our on-site chapel.

About the event

You are warmly invited to join us for our first-ever Candlelight Concert, held in the beautiful setting of our on-site chapel on Tuesday 16 December from 6 pm until 7:15 pm.

This special evening will feature performances by Finsbury A Cappella, an upper voices ensemble, and pupils from St Joseph’s Catholic School, who will perform a programme of festive favourites and carols. There will also be moments for everyone to join in, filling the candlelit chapel with the spirit of the season.

Tickets are just £5 per person, with a collection on the night for those who wish to give a little extra. Places are limited due to the size of the venue, so we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.

About Finsbury A Cappella

Finsbury A Cappella is an upper voices ensemble for sopranos and altos, directed by conductor Charles Béquignon-MacDougall. Finsbury A Cappella is an ambitious, auditioned ensemble, tackling intermediate to advanced repertoire. They rehearse weekly during term time in North London, with sessions focussing on vocal technique and musical detail. In addition to three end-of-term concerts, the group is invited to perform at a number of additional events, such as charity concerts and album launches, each year.

Finsbury A Cappella was founded in 2023 by Hannah Brine, who has started community choirs in North and East London, as well as in Greater Manchester and the Peak District. Hannah’s choirs have made appearances at the Royal Variety Show, Olivier Awards, BBC Proms, and various TV and recording projects. Charles Béquignon-MacDougall is an award-winning tenor, choral director, vocal coach, and music education specialist, known equally for his singing and his transformative work with choirs, singers and teachers.

About St Joseph's Catholic School

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, based in Maida Vale, has been a long-term supporter of our hospice, and over the years, their support has taken many forms. From hosting Christmas collections at their concerts and nativity plays to performing at our annual Light Up a Life celebration, their pupils bring so much heart to everything they do. They’ve also organised different fundraising initiatives, such as a Love and Appreciation Day with a non-uniform fundraiser, and even sent cards and gifts to brighten the days of our patients and staff.

How your support helps

All funds raised through this concert will go towards extending our hospice Inpatient Unit admissions hours, so that patients, their loved ones, and carers can access our specialist care when it’s needed most.

Right now, people living with life-limiting illnesses often struggle to access palliative care in the evenings and at weekends. This can mean unwanted hospital admissions or families left coping alone. By extending our admissions service to seven days a week, we can reduce unnecessary emergency visits, ease the pressure on carers, and support more people to remain in their preferred place of care.
