About the event
Our annual Light Up a Life celebration is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, reflect on the past year, and lovingly remember those who mean the most to us.
This year’s event takes place on Tuesday 8 December, from 6 pm until 8:30 pm. We’ll begin with a multi-faith, remembrance service at St John’s Wood Church, featuring poems, readings, and music from local faith leaders, schoolchildren, and beneficiaries of our hospice.
Following the service, you are invited to a reception at Lord’s Cricket Ground where we will enjoy drinks, canapés and some festive cheer.
Please note that Light Up a Life will take place on Tuesday this year, instead of its usual Monday date.
At the reception, we’ll be selling our range of Christmas cards and merchandise, as well as our Envelopes of Joy. For just £10, you can choose an envelope containing a surprise: from heartfelt messages of thanks from our hospice staff and patients to wonderful prizes such as festive gift sets and vouchers for local restaurants and businesses. Whatever awaits you, every envelope purchased will help raise vital funds for our hospice.
Stars That Shine
Our Stars That Shine display is a beautiful way to honour someone special. Dedicate a star to a loved one and let their memory shine brightly throughout the festive season.
You may have already received your star for the display by post. If you would like more than one star, or haven’t received one, you can collect one when you arrive at the reception at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Simply follow the instructions to cut out your star, then write your loved one’s name and / or a dedication message. Bring your completed star with you on the night, where you can choose a ribbon and hang it on our beautiful Christmas tree display.
If you’re unable to join us
If you’re donating in memory of someone but aren’t able to attend Light Up a Life, you can bring your completed star and donation to the Hospice at the address below, or send them to us by post:

If you received our invitation and star in the post, you could use the Freepost envelope provided to send your completed star and donation back to us. We’ll place your star on the display for you, so your loved one’s memory can still be part of this special evening.
After the event, our Stars That Shine display will move to our Hospice Inpatient Unit, where it will remain throughout the festive season.

How your support helps
All funds raised through Light Up a Life will directly support our vital wellbeing services, which are not funded by the NHS. From complementary therapies and physiotherapy to music and art therapy, social work, and bereavement and carer support, these services are an essential part of the holistic care we provide for patients and their loved ones.
And this year, your support on the evening will go twice as far. Every donation made during our Match Funded Appeal, from midday Tuesday 1 December to midnight Tuesday 8 December, will be doubled. Keep your eyes peeled for more information.
