About the event
The Hackney Half is an unforgettable experience. This 13.1-mile, closed-road race is perfect for beginners and seasoned runners alike, guiding you through the vibrant heart of East London. And the fun doesn’t stop at the finish line. Celebrate your achievement with thousands of fellow runners on Hackney Marshes, featuring live music, great food and drink, and a wide range of sports and wellbeing activities.

Our wonderful supporter Rohan took part in Hackney Half 2026 in honour of his uncle, who visits our Wellbeing Centre each week. The money he raised could help fund our Wellbeing Services, which provide vital physical, emotional, social and spiritual support to patients and their families.
Why run for St John’s Hospice?
As part of Team St John’s you will receive:
- A free hospice-branded technical running vest.
- An Hackney Half 2026 finisher’s medal.
- One-on-one support and mentoring to help you with your fundraising.
- On the day support and cheering from our dedicated staff and volunteers.
Most importantly, your fundraising will help us to reach more people and provide more care. Whether it is supporting a child with a bereavement counselling session following the loss of a loved one, providing a community nurse with new clinical equipment, or providing specialist one-to-one nursing on our Inpatient Unit.
How your support helps
Your brilliant fundraising total of £400 could fund all of the below:
- Help fund a group art or music therapy session, giving patients the opportunity to express themselves creatively, learn new skills and enjoy meaningful time together.
- Fund four physiotherapy sessions, helping a patient maintain or rebuild their strength and live as independently and fully as possible.
- Help fund inpatient care, whether that's managing pain and symptoms, providing end-of-life care or offering respite for family members and carers.
