About the event
There's nothing quite like the London Marathon. From the capital's world-famous landmarks to the crowds cheering your name, every mile is unforgettable.
And in 2027, you'll be part of history. A one-off double event across Saturday and Sunday will see a record-breaking 100,000 runners take on the challenge.
Starting in Greenwich, you'll pass some of the city's most famous landmarks, including Cutty Sark, The Shard, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and Big Ben, before finishing on the iconic Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.
Our London Marathon 2027 charity places are now full. You can join our waitlist incase a spot becomes available. Alternatively, If you were lucky enough to secure a place through the ballot, you can still run as part of Team St John's! Why run for St John’s?
As part of Team St John’s, you will receive:
- A free hospice-branded technical running vest or T-Shirt plus iron-on lettering for the big day.
- Free trial with Coopah, the Official Training App for the TCS London Marathon.
- In person training day and tour of St John's.
- One-to-one support and mentoring to help you with your fundraising.
- On the day support and cheering from our dedicated staff and volunteers.
- Free welcome gift of a St John’s tote bag and pin badge when you receive your first donation.
- Shout outs on social throughout your marathon journey.

- A TCS London Marathon 2027 finisher's medal and T-Shirt (optional).

Most importantly, your fundraising will make a real difference in the community. You’ll help us reach more people and provide vital care, whether it’s supporting a child through bereavement counselling, funding an art therapy session in our Wellbeing Centre or helping families with respite care.
How your support helps
Your brilliant fundraising total of £2,500 could fund all of the below:
- Four physiotherapy sessions, helping a patient maintain or rebuild their strength and live as independently and fully as possible.
- A day of Hospice@Home care, enabling a patient to remain in the comfort of their own home during the later stages of their illness while also providing valuable respite for their carers.
- Fund our free ambulance service for two days, ensuring patients can travel safely to and from the hospice and attend external hospital appointments.
- A social worker for one week, enabling them to visit patients and carers at home to provide practical guidance, emotional support and help with any worries or concerns.
- Help fund welfare and benefits support for eight families, ensuring they understand what financial support they are entitled to and how to access it.
